Cautions Against Attacks On Ex-Customs Boss

Cautions Against Attacks On Ex-Customs Boss

An amalgamated association based in Lagos, Associates of Human Rights and Political Awareness (AHRPA) has noted that the 17 exotic cars allegedly owned by the the immediate past comptroller-general of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko Inde were planted in order to smear his reputation.
AHRPA president, Dr. Are Owosepe told newsmen that they were in Kaduna to ascertain the truth after examining the legendary record of Inde in the Nigeria Customs Service.
Owosepe explained that after their findings, it was discovered that the cars were arranged to smear the good name and record of the retired officer.
Owosepe said that AHRPA is not supporting illegal acquisitions of wealth through corruption or outright looting of the national treasury by leaders but added that in investigating leaders, facts and honesty should be the watch word not induced vendetta from perceived opponents.
He said that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) is doing good work in its many discoveries and recoveries of looted funds from homes and accounts of some indicted government officials and politicians, but taking it far to plan machination and implicate some innocent leaders should be done with caution.
He advised government to properly investigate the truth behind each discovery before making it public.
The AHRPA president also said that much as he is not exonerating Inde, other facts might emerge if thorough investigation is conducted into exotic cars discovered from the former Customs boss without liquid cash.
