At Least 60 Dead People by Ethnic Clashes in Nigeria
Abuja, Mar 9 (Prensa Latina) Clashes in the south-west of Nigeria between Muslim shepherds and Christian farmers caused the death to 60 persons and numerous injured people, reported the government Thursday.
The authorities of the region declared a curfew after the violent clashes in the ancient Yoruba city of Ife, in the federal state of Osun, adds a police report spread here.
The combats between both groups began with a dispute between a man and a woman, which resulted into the participation of their followers in a massive tiff.
Governmental members expressed worry for the possible increase of the number of dead persons in the incidents, judging by the gravity of many of the injured persons.
The curfew will until Saturday, and orders the Nigerians of the territory to stay at their local homes in houses and communities from the 18:00 to 07:00.
Press means remembered that thousands of citizens of bordering areas to Ife died during the last years in ethnic-religious possible combats, in dispute for natural resources like the grassland and the water.
