n any race it is not he that takes the lead first but he who consistently stays ahead till the end that eventually wins. We all want to win in life, nobody wants to be behind. There is a consistent effort to stay ahead with personal goals and compared to your contemporaries.
Every time it appears you aren't doing
as well as your contemporaries in terms of achievements, you are not
very happy. On several occasions we have confused this feeling with envy
or jealousy, it is not the same. There is nothing wrong with using
other peoples’ accomplishments and successes to measure how you are
doing. For you to measure your performance in anything, there must be a
standard or benchmark and it's natural to feel bad when others are
legitimately achieving what you're grappling with. It gingers you to up
your game. If you're indifferent to what other people are achieving in
life to the end that you are not inspired to do more and strive harder,
it amounts to complacency and complacency terminates visions, dreams,
and achievements.
The achievements of others should drive
and inspire you to do better yourself. When your feelings and thoughts
towards these achievers starts to incline towards negativity -wishing
they failed, or get embarrassed or disgraced then this has become envy
or jealousy, it's bad.
