Just last week a lady came to see me to
have a frank discussion with me. She was very upset, she was
disappointed and needed an explanation. Some of us may not know yet but a
few businesses including banks and an oil company carried out their
rightsizing exercise about 2 weeks ago. They asked some of their staff
to go. They laid off some employees.
Like I explained at my live seminar in
January, the economic down turn is beginning to have its effect directly
on the populace, many of us will begin to understand the implication of
the adverse exchange rate, dwindling global oil price and by
implication the austerity measures in a matter of weeks. Well perhaps
before midyear, I believe after the elections news about our economy
will subsequently take the headlines and many of us will become better
enlightened.
Anyway, this lady came to see me because she was affected by the retrenchment. She had been laid off.
She was particularly upset because
according to her, she was a very good, qualified and dedicated staff.
She worked very hard and didn't play with her work, she had been
commended on several occasions by her immediate supervisor and her team
head regarding her performance, attitude to work and productivity. She
was one of the best when it came to getting results, so she never
thought or believed any rightsizing exercise in her company would affect
her, according to her, she was an A staff. Hmm.
